Every year a team of dedicated students from San Jose State University work together to provide the community with stories about culture, dreams, and life obstacles. We, SJSU VSA, decided to name the show “Ảo Ảnh” or “Mirage” — Keeping the pure tradition of maintaining and promoting of Vietnamese culture.

Unfortunately, this year’s Culture Show is facing drastic financial decisions. Due to budget cuts facing our State school, we are no longer financially supported by our school. Furthermore, the theater rental increased by 27%. Even with this unbearable challenge, we must continue this tradition for the 34th year. Although we ran fundraisers and sought sponsorships, the amount of money we collected is only 50% of the total cost. In order to break even for the show, we must sell the majority of our tickets.

We have gathered over 70 volunteers to bring to the audience the best of nostalgia as well as laughter throughout the cultural presentation of the show. Not as defined by physics, SJSU-VSA’s “Mirage” reflects the desires: the visions of hope, and of dreams of the second generation Vietnamese students. We want to show the visions of nostalgia and love. We hope to be successful this year so we can continue to carry VSA to the 35th year.

We hope our friends, family, classmates, and community can support our ambition to make this show happen. On top of finals, work, and family, we hope these sleepless nights can encourage the future generations to work as a team and never give up on a tradition that made SJSU VSA so strong. Please help us by purchasing pre-sale tickets ($10/General, $12/Will Call, $25/VIP) or by contributing a small donation.

Please visit us at www.sjsuvsa.net/cs12 or contact cultureshow@sjsuvsa.net

Thank you everyone for the support, and thank you to our hard working members of SJSU for giving up their time to make this show happen. We are looking forward to June 2nd, so please join us in this unforgettable night!
