Weekly SJSUVSA News Letter Vol. I

Hi everyone,
This will be the first newsletter for this year to update everyone on what we did this past week and information for upcoming events. We will be sending out weekly updates to catch everyone up, so everyone will be able to know what SJSUVSA has in store for our members. If you have the time, you should stop by our updated website www.sjsuvsa.net. On behalf of SJSUVSA, I would like to thank Jason Allen, last year’s Webmaster, for making the website simpler and updated for the general public.
Tomorrow, we will have our 8th General Meeting in the Guadalupe Room (top floor Student Union) from 5:00PM to 6:30PM. If you have a question, please let us know.

Below is this week’s update:

10/27/11 - SJSUVSA General Meeting
On Behalf of the VSA Cabinet and I, we would like to thank everyone who came out to this past general meeting. Congratulations to our Activities Chair, Chun Wong, for becoming Officer of the Month for the month of October, he will be given two movie tickets for his hard work and dedication to our organization. We will begin the process of having Member of the Month for every month, these selections will be chosen by the family heads and possibly by the members as well. Member of the Month will receive a gift (ex. VSA t-shirt, hooded sweater, credit to go towards future events, and etc.) for their hard work and dedication as well, so watch out everyone, because it could be YOU.
We successfully had a cultural session on Dam Gio (a day to remember those who passed away in our family) where everyone learned from what this day meant to each individual members. SJSUVSA will continue to preserve and promote our culture through various activities.

10/30/11 VietAYA Mid-Autumn Festival Volunteering
This past weekend, SJSUVSA volunteered at the annual VietAYA Mid-Autumn Festival, an event aimed to bring in the local high school VSAs to compete among each other in the follow categories: Olympia, Jeopardy, and their Cultural Show. This event was lead by our wonderful Cultural Heritage Chair, Vy Nguyen, who represented SJSUVSA to the point she lost her voice. (: GREAT JOB VY. Thanks everyone for helping out at this wonderful event, and having fun while at it. These high school VSA’ers will one day become our future members. This was a great way to impact them with our presence.
