Newsletter I - Spring 2012
Hello everyone,
WELCOME BACK. It has been only two weeks into the new semester in the new year, and the lunar new year (Year of the Dragon, Rồng). This means, we’re at the half way point of the enter school year. Keep up the motivation especially those who will be graduating this semester. So, I hope everyone is doing well whether it is getting their classes situated for the spring semester, or maintaining balance in your life.
To recap the past semester briefly:
- Family System & Theme of the Year - Phuoc Loc Tho (Luck, Wealth, Health)
- Represents stability, unit and elements of virtue that help maintain balance in our lives.
- We have 50+ active members for Fall 2011.
- We’ve maintained a good standard during general meetings.
- We’ve updated our website, and transition towards an easier interface in order to update our members as well as the public.
- Web updates, and social-networking integration still in progress.
- We’ve kept to our planned program/events for Fall 2011. Events such as
- 4th Annual UVSA Summit @ U.C. Berkeley
- Fundraiser - Car Wash (2)
- Annual Luau
- Charity Event @ Motif
- Iron Chef
- Mixer with De Anza and U.C. Santa Cruz
- Annual Winter Formal
- Annual Snow Trip
- Tet Festival
- Increase in cabinet size by 1. An Tang - Fundraising Chair.
We will be having our first general/informative meeting this upcoming week.
- Date: Thursday, February 16th.
- Time: 5:00PM
- Location: 3rd Floor of Student Union, Guadalupe Room (Located near the restrooms).
We’ll briefly mention some of the upcoming events we have planned to have this semester.

Founded in 1978, the Vietnamese Student Association of San Jose State University (SJSU VSA) is a non-profit student-based organization that serves the Vietnamese community by preserving and promoting Vietnamese culture and traditions. We strive to maintain the Vietnamese culture to generations that were born and/or raised outside of Vietnam. We promote diversity to all ethnic groups willing to learn the Vietnamese culture. We strive to unite with other colleagues to create an enlightening atmosphere and encourage education as well as leadership. We strive to promote cooperation, participation, and communication to work towards a common goal.
